1st of all College Players have heart and soul for the game.
2nd of all they don't have to worry about no salary.. Unlike the NBA players.
3rd of all College players don't have that Ego mentality when they play basketball.
4th FIBA is for Amateurs.. But I guess that's too late to say that now right..

I think sendingcollegeplayers is a great idea because they would have more respect for their opponent. I don't think the NBA players give any credit were credit is due. Lets face it, basketball is world wide. You don't expect to go undefeated all the time, especially with these European
teams. Its catch up time and I think it is great for the game of basketball.

Hell no - Things are just getting interesting. Just cause you don't dominate doesn't mean you stop competing. The more the US lose, the more winning will mean. Players will desperately want to show up and be selected. The win will matter. yay for competition!

The Greeks were pros - in their own country - but they played for their country unlike the US players who were waiting for the limo with Japanese *** for them to ****.
Thecollegeplayers were defeated too that's why we send the pros. The national teams have been using professionals before we sent them. Spain has Paul Gosol, Germany has Dirk Nowinski, Argentina has Manu Genobli, Carlos Delfino. We Americans hate to lose so we blame and insult the players that did go.

Coach thompson did not allow Alonzo Morning to play in the Olympics. he let him practice with them. he said that morning was good enuff to play...

The NCAA Champs wouldn't win the FIBA tournament. The other coutries are too talented. If we sent our best 8 players and filled the rest of the roster sports with great role players, we would win.
Sorry, I don't thinkcollegeplayers would have a chance. Too young. They don't have the experience or physical maturity.
The USA team lost at worlds not because they lacked talent. I think it was :
1) They only really played together for 2 months. They lack experience playing together so their team defense was weak. This was shown in the inability to shut down Greece's pick and roll game.
2) Despite being "built" to compete, there does seem to be a lack of a good outside shooting.
3) USA still plays too much 1 on 1. They need more time to develop an team offense.
This team was already competative (6 pts is not a huge loss).
A few adjustments (add a true shooter) and more team offence and defense practice and this team will be a real favorite, if not *the* favorite.

1st - If you think this team played w/o "heart and soul", you didn't watch a single minute of a single game. They played hard throughout. They just got beat by a better team.
2nd - NBA players andcollegeplayers all play for money, (Since the questioner misunderstood this statement, I'll clarify.) College players don't get paid, but there goal is to make the NBA so that they will. Hence my assertion that they all play for money.
3rd - As for your assertion thatcollegeplayers don't have that "ego mentality", where do you think the vast majority of NBA players come from...college. (More clarity) Those guys developed their egos after years of being held in high regard as "the man" of their pee wee, middle school, high school teams. They don't just magically develop once they get in the NBA.
4th - FIBA isn't for amateurs. Every FIBA team is made up of professionals. The NBA isn't the only professional league in the world. Greece didn't have any guys with NBA experience, but their starting center is considered to be the best pure center in Europe and the 6-5 point guard, The Octopus Man, is a European league MVP. (More clarity) The 'A' in FIBA may stand for 'amatuer', but no one sends amatuers anymore. FIBP just doesn't have that same pop to it as FIBA...LOL

i've always been wary of single elimination games since a more superior team can have an off night and lose....given the less accurate shooting percentages of the usa team their loss of only 6 points was an indication of their superior talent...they were outshot 62 to 50 percent and only sank 59% from the free throw line...i really think fiba should change the single elimination format for the semis and finals so fluke winners would be more far-fetched...best of three would make the americans probable winners in their recent losses in the international scene

i would rather send the atlanta hawks or new york knicks than the "bestcollegeteam" because even the bestcollegeteam couldnt beat the worst NBA team. We didnt send our greatest, that is easy to see. This year it wasnt because they declined to play, it is because they weren't invited. Coach K invited who HE thought should play, why else would JJ Reddick be on the team? Or Adam Morrison? That is ridiculous...
